Hamissi Mamba’s journey from Burundi to Detroit is one of resilience, family, and community. After years of separation from his wife, Nadia, and their young twin daughters, he reunited with them in Michigan and began dreaming of a way to share the flavors of home. That dream became Baobab Fare, which opened in 2021 after countless pop-ups, late nights, and determination. Today, Hamissi is helping grow Baobab Fare, Waka street food, and Soko, while creating opportunities for other immigrants and refugees to build new lives. Through every venture, he’s proud to celebrate Burundian culture, bring people together, and give back to the community that welcomed his family.

Mark your calendar, invite a colleague, and come ready to connect with purpose.
Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with serious players and ignite new possibilities.
